Removed vs deleted
| On Reddit it says | Who did it | What usually happened |
|---|---|---|
[deleted] | The author | They deleted the post or comment, or their whole account |
[removed] | Moderators, AutoModerator or Reddit | It broke a subreddit rule (often self-promotion, account age or karma limits) or a site-wide rule |
| Post visible to you, missing for others | Spam filter or a shadow removal | Common for new accounts and posts with links; check it in a logged-out window |
Why your own post got removed
- Self-promotion rules. Many communities only allow product mentions in a weekly thread, or ban them entirely.
- Account age or karma limits. AutoModerator silently removes posts from new or low-karma accounts in many subreddits.
- Links. Some subreddits remove any post with an outside link, or links to certain domains.
- Wrong format or flair. Missing flair, title format or the required question tag.
Check each community's rules before posting — our comment search shows them — or get them all at once in the $20 Reddit marketing plan.
Limits and fair use
The archive cannot recover content it never captured, such as posts deleted within seconds, posts in private or quarantined communities, or images that were hosted elsewhere. Use the archived text to understand a discussion, not to expose or harass the person who removed it.
Data comes from Arctic Shift, a free public archive of Reddit. Your browser asks the archive directly; RedditQuora does not store your searches or the results.
FAQ
How can I see a deleted Reddit post?
Paste the post's link above. If the public archive saved the post before it was deleted, the original title, text and comments are shown. Content deleted within seconds of posting, or from private communities, usually cannot be recovered.
How do I see removed comments in a thread?
Paste the thread link. The tool shows every archived comment and marks the ones that were later removed by a moderator, removed by Reddit or deleted by the author. The archive re-checks threads about a day after posting, so very new removals show up the next day. Paste a comment's own link to jump straight to it.
Do sites like Reveddit or Unddit still work?
Many older tools relied on Pushshift, which Reddit restricted in 2023, so several stopped working or show partial data. This tool uses the Arctic Shift archive, which is still being updated.
Why was my Reddit post removed?
Usually because of a subreddit rule: self-promotion limits, minimum account age or karma, link rules, or missing flair. Read the subreddit's rules and its wiki, or message the moderators politely and ask.
Can I see deleted images or videos?
Only the link that was in the post. The archive stores text and metadata, not the media files.
