The short version
- One real identity per brand. We work from your founder, team or brand account. It says who it is.
- Community rules come first. Before anything is posted we read the subreddit's sidebar rules and wiki, or the Quora Space's guidelines, and note them in the plan.
- Help first, product second. A reply has to be worth reading without the product mention. If it isn't, we don't post it.
- Disclose every time. Whenever your product comes up, the reply says you make it.
- No manipulation, ever. No bought or “aged” accounts, no upvote services, no multiple accounts, no fake reviews.
What Reddit's rules say, in plain words
Reddit's site-wide rules prohibit content manipulation: spam, vote manipulation, ban evasion and using multiple accounts to make something look more popular than it is. Reddit's guidance for businesses points brands to Reddit Pro, a free set of tools for finding communities and joining conversations as a business. On top of that, each subreddit sets its own rules about self-promotion — some ban it entirely, some allow it only in weekly threads, some welcome disclosed founders.
Brand participation is allowed. Pretending to be someone else is not. Everything we do is designed around that line.
What Quora's policies say
Quora requires real names, allows people to mention products they are connected to as long as they disclose that connection, and removes answers that are mainly promotional or repeated across questions. So our Quora answers come from a real person at your company, state the connection, and answer the question fully on their own.
Our checklist for every post
| Check | Pass condition |
|---|---|
| Account | Client-owned, identifies the person or brand |
| Community rules | Self-promotion allowed in this place and format; flair or thread requirements met |
| Value | Answers the question even if the product mention is removed |
| Disclosure | “I work on / I built X” whenever X is mentioned |
| Links | Only when they directly answer the question; never link-only replies |
| Frequency | Most account activity is not about the product |
| Votes | No asking for upvotes, no coordinated voting, no vote services |
Things we turn down
- Posting from accounts the client doesn't own or that pose as unrelated users
- Upvote packages, karma farming or “aged account” requests
- Negative campaigns against competitors
- Posting in communities that ban promotion, or after a moderator says no
- Regulated claims (medical, financial, legal) without the client's compliance sign-off
If a moderator removes something we drafted, we check why, update the community notes, and rewrite it free if it broke a written rule we should have caught.
FAQ
Is it allowed for a company to market on Reddit?
Yes. Reddit allows businesses to take part and offers Reddit Pro for that purpose. What is not allowed is manipulation: fake accounts, vote buying and spam. Individual subreddits may also ban self-promotion, so rules must be checked per community.
Why don't you use aged Reddit accounts?
Aged or bought accounts pose as unrelated users, which is the behaviour Reddit's content manipulation rules target. When they are caught, links to your site can be filtered and threads removed, and the reputational cost lands on your brand.
